An intermediate event of the twinning project was held at the Parliament of Georgia co-organized by the EU funded public services twinning project “Strengthening Parliamentary Supervision of Public Finance” and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The participants of the meeting were addressed with a welcome speech by the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, the Chief Operating Officer of the US Congressional Budget Office, Mark Hadley and the EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pavel Herczynski.
The new head of the Parliamentary Budget Office, Andria Gvidiani, addressed the attendees of the meeting. He pointed out the significance of the event through sharing the best European experience in order to strengthen the parliamentary supervision and the development of the budget office in Georgia.
“Effective analysis of the budget planning and its execution represents one of the main objectives of the Parliamentary Budget Office. Simultaneously, it is of significant importance to strengthen and ensure the effectiveness of the work pursued by the budget office within the scope of parliamentary supervision. Therefore, sharing and implementing the best European experience for the development of the budget office depicts the main goal of our meeting.” – said Andria Gvidiani.
The head of the Parliamentary Budget Office thanked the EU representatives for successful and effective cooperation.
Budgeting and supervision progress in the CESEE region was notably addressed at the event by Brian Finn, Head of the Network of Senior Budget Officers of the CESEE countries.
